Our Spanish and Basque language courses are specially designed for participants in mobility and exchange programmes in the University of the Basque Country.

Intensive Spanish August-September

  • Dates: 27th August to 7th September 2012
  • 45 hours of tuition (4,5 hours daily)
  • Schedule: Monday to friday from 9:00 to 14:00
  • Enrolment fee: Students of mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations or with any link to the University of the Basque Country: Free of charge.
  • Levels available: Beginners, intermediate or advanced.

Campus of Alava (Vitoria-Gasteiz)
Teacher Training School. 1, Juan Ibañez de Santo Domingo street
Rooms: Seminars 1, 2 and 4.

Campus of Bizkaia (Bilbao)
Ingenieering Higher Technical School of Bilbao. Alameda de Urquijo s/n.
Rooms: P1G1A, P1G3A and P1G4A- All of them in G building, 1st floor.

Campus of Gipuzkoa (Donostia-San Sebastián)

Campus of Gipuzkoa: 22nd January to 9th May 2013

Campus of Araba and Bizkaia: 28th January to 15th May 2013

Available levels per Campus:

Campus of Araba: Intermediate and advanced levels.

Campus of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa: Beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.

Course information:

60 hours of tuition per course (4 hours per week) and 20 hours of complementary activities.

Enrolment fee: Students of mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations or with any link to the University of the Basque Country: Free of charge.

Campus of Araba (Vitoria-Gasteiz)

These courses are closed. No more admissions will be allowed.

Teacher Training School:

Mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays from 13:30 to 14:50 hours.

Rooms: 2.3 and 2.4. Intermediate and advanced levels.

 

Campus of Bizkaia (Bilbao and Leioa Centres)

These courses are closed. No more admissions will be allowed.

Courses venues and schedule:

Leioa. Teacher Training School.

Beginners, intermediate and advanced levels available for students of the two campuses (except the intermediate level - Students of the centres of Bilbao should follow that level in the Higher Technical School of Engineering).

Beginners level: Mondays and wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. Room: 0S06G

Intermediate level (students studying in Leioa): Tuesdays and thursdays from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. Room: 0S05G

Advanced level: Thursdays from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. Room: 0S09G

Higher Technical School of Engineering - Bilbao: Only intermediate level (students studying in the centres located in Bilbao - Students of these centres of beginners/advanced level should go to class in the Campus of Leioa)

Schedule: Mondays and wednesdays from 13:00 to 15:00 hours. Room: P2G7S (G building, 2nd floor, 7th seminar)

 

Campus of Gipuzkoa (Donostia-San Sebastián)

Intermediate level:

Schedule: Thursdays and Fridays from 13:00 to 15:00 hours

52 hours of tuition per course (4 hours per week)

Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE)
INSTITUTO CERVANTES

The University of the Basque Country, in partnership with the Spanish Instituto Cervantes, offer all their students the possibility to evaluate and certify their level of Spanish through the DELE exams (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language). Diplomas are structured in three levels: Beginners (A1 and A2), intermediate (B1 and B2) and advanced (C1 and C2) even if the University of the Basque country only organizes intermediate (B2) and advanced level exams (C1 and C2).

Exams are held at The Campus of Álava of the University of the Basque Country in May and/or November.

All students, including those on mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations, shall pay the enrolment fee for the Diploma.

Certificates and Credits

Spanish Intensive course of September:

On completion of the courses, the University of the Basque Country will issue a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROFICIENCY to those students who have attended at least 80% of classes and passed the tests established for such purpose.

Autumn and Spring courses:

Students belonging to mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country will be granted the following number of ECTS credits in their transcript of records if they successfully pass the tests established by the teachers for that purpose.

Other UPV/EHU students, that cannot be registered in GAUR, will receive a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROFICIENCY if they pass the tests established by the teachers for that purpose.

Spanish language courses: 4 (intensive course) 8 (autumn and spring courses)
Basque language courses: 6 (autumn and spring courses)

Enrolment Conditions

Spanish intensive course:

Enrolment will be carried out by sending the following documents to the Secretary´s Office of Language Courses for Foreigners or the Help Centres for foreign students:

  • The registration form, duly completed
  • Copy of passport or ID
  • Copy of the registration form at the University of the Basque Country for foreign students (Annex 5) or any document stating their membership to the University of the Basque Country

Autumn and spring courses:

Students that do not belong to any mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country but have any link with the university:

  • Same conditions as for the September intensive course

Students on mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country:

  • Those students must register themselves in those language courses together with the rest of their subjects in their corresponding centre or faculty of the University of the Basque Country

Important comments

To ensure their participation on the course, students must hand over all documentation prior to commencement of each course.

Exchange students should make sure they are well registered  in GAUR in their faculties or centres for the Autumn and Spring Spanish and Basque courses.

Dates and schedules of the courses available in this website might vary according to the Campus academic calendars. Any change will be updated in this website as soon as possible.

Students not belonging to mobility programmes will only be allowed to take each level courses once.
