Our Spanish and Basque language courses are specially designed for participants in mobility and exchange programmes in the University of the Basque Country.

Here you will find all the information you need to enrol on our courses.

Intensive Spanish August-September

  • Dates: 26th August to 6th September 2013
  • 45 hours of tuition (4,5 hours daily)
  • Schedule: Monday to friday from 9:00 to 14:00 (In the Campus of Gipuzkoa the schedule will be 8:45 to 13:45 hours)
  • Levels available: Beginners, intermediate or advanced.
  • Admission in this course will only be allowed the 26th, 27th and 28th August.

Enrolment fee:

Free of charge for students of mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations.

Students registered in other study programs (master, doctorate, etc.), visiting researchers and visiting teaching staff interested in the course should pay a fee of 120 euros.

Students that don´t have any relation with the UPV/EHU, even family members of the previous two groups, will not be allowed to take part in these courses.

Campus of Bizkaia (Bilbao)

Campus of Gipuzkoa (Donostia-San Sebastián)
Teacher Training School. 3, Oñati Square (Plaza)
Rooms: 2.4, 2.5 and 2.7 (2nd floor) > Schedule: 8:45-13:45 hours.

Autumn and Spring Spanish Courses

60 hours of tuition per course (4 hours per week).

Certificates and Credits

Spanish Intensive course of September:

On completion of the courses, the University of the Basque Country will issue a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROFICIENCY to those students who have attended at least 85% of classes and passed the tests established for such purpose.

Autumn and Spring courses:

Students belonging to mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country will be granted the following number of ECTS credits in their transcript of records if they successfully pass the tests established by the teachers for that purpose.

Other UPV/EHU students, that cannot be registered in GAUR, will receive a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROFICIENCY if they pass the tests established by the teachers for that purpose.

Spanish language courses: 4 (intensive course) 6 (autumn and spring courses)
Basque language courses: 6 (autumn and spring courses)

Enrolment Conditions

Registration venues:

Secretary of Language courses for Visitor Students in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Alava Campus Vice-Rectorate)

Help Centres for Visitor Students in the Campus of Bizkaia (Higher Technical School of Engineering in Bilbao and Library building in Leioa) and in the Campus of Gipuzkoa (Ignacio Mª Barriola building)

Spanish intensive course:

Enrolment will be carried out by sending the following documents to the Secretary´s Office of Language Courses for Foreigners or the Help Centres for foreign students:

  • The registration form, duly completed
  • Copy of passport or ID
  • Copy of the registration form at the University of the Basque Country for foreign students (Annex 5) or any document stating their membership to the University of the Basque Country

Students registered in other study programs (master, doctorate, etc.), visiting researchers and visiting teaching staff interested in the course should pay a fee of 120 euros and provide a copy of the bank transfer

Autumn and spring courses:

Students that do not belong to any mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country but have any link with the university should pay 180 euros per course. The procedure is the same as for the September intensive course.

Students that don´t have any relation with the UPV/EHU, even family members of the previous two groups, will not be allowed to take part in these courses.

Students on mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations of the University of the Basque Country must register themselves through GAUR system in their corresponding centre or faculty of the University of the Basque Country. More information regarding this procedure (GAUR system) can be obtained from the student´s faculty or centre´s coordinator or academic secretaries.

Students on mobility programmes must be registered in GAUR if they want to follow these courses.

Important comments

To ensure their participation in the course, students must hand over all documentation prior to commencement of each course.

Exchange students should make sure they are well registered  in GAUR in their faculties or centres for the Autumn and Spring Spanish and Basque courses.

Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE)
INSTITUTO CERVANTES

The University of the Basque Country, in partnership with the Spanish Instituto Cervantes, offer all their students the possibility to evaluate and certify their level of Spanish through the DELE exams (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language). Diplomas are structured in three levels: Beginners (A1 and A2), intermediate (B1 and B2) and advanced (C1 and C2) even if the University of the Basque country only organizes intermediate (B2) and advanced level exams (C1 and C2).

Exams are held at The Campus of Álava of the University of the Basque Country in May and/or November.

All students, including those on mobility programmes administered by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations, shall pay the enrolment fee for the Diploma.
